Aly’s personal blog

Lazy people

I admit to being one myself, but after living with all the number of people I have over the past 4 years I must say, I’m probably the most anal about being clean. And I don’t honestly consider myself all that neat nor clean, just take a look in my room and you’ll see what I mean.

But to me, there’s peronal space and common space. If you choose to turn your personal space (i.e your own room) into a pig sty, that doesn’t effect anyone else living in the same house as you nor anyone that comes into the house. They/we don’t see your mess and could care less. BUT what about the common spaces… like a bathroom, kitchen… or livingroom?

People throwing socks and leaving food/dishes out for weeks untill the entire living space ranks of some unforspeakable stench and harmful mold collect in dirty dishes and cups… to me… thats over stepping the line of whats ‘human’. It’s disgusting.

Another thing. household chores should be divided up amongst people. Why should one or two people be the only ones doing chores? Do the rest of the people do not see the hair in the sink? Do they not see the mildew collecting in the showers and toilets? This is where I think the philosophy of ‘if you aren’t willing to do the work then you better compensate with $$ at least’.

I’ve learned my final lesson in this ‘college student’ life style.

You don’t room with friends. I’ve had to hold my tongue so many times with the past number of roomates that I’ve had because I felt weird yelling at them to do a chore or clean. I don’t want to lose a friendship and so I end up doing things myself. But I’m not one of those people that allows others to walk all over them. And so in the end? I end up hating the people I live with. Nothing has changed really had it just been regarding interests or talking, had we not lived together, I’m sure I’d still be ranting to them endlessly about some band or drama, but now, everytime I really look at them, all I can think of is how they knowningly ignore the fact that I clean an area and as soon as I leave the area, it is once again a mess. What the hell am I? A maid?

FUCK that.
